Briefing - OK space explorer, you had a day off to visit earth, but now it is time tio climb back aboard our space craft and head toward our next destination, Mars. As you may already know, Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second smallest planet in the Solar System. Named after the Roman god of war, it is often described as the "Red Planet", as the iron oxide prevalent on its surface gives it a reddish appearance. Mars is also a terrestrial planet with a thin atmosphere, having surface features reminiscent both of the impact craters of the Moon and the volcanoes, valleys, deserts, and polar ice caps of Earth.
Mission – On this mission, you will compare features of planet Mars to Earth using Microsoft’s Excel spread sheet program. You will be making a simple comparrison list of 10 features using Excel and you will also be using different functions of this program to include, merge cells, fill cells, different fonts, and border properties.
Tools – You will not only be using the Microsoft Excel program, but you will also be using the Internet and specific websites that will be provided for you.
Example of the Project |
Step 1: Open up Micro Soft Excel and create a new sheet.
Step 2: Use the merge cell function to create a title and a place to put your name.
Step 3: Once again, you can merge some cells together to create labels such as the feature section.
Step 4: After you have created your labels (Earth and Mars labels also) you will gather the data fro the Web pages above to find the Orbit Circumference, Orbit Velocity Mean Radius, Surface Area, Density and the Maximum and Minimum Temperature of both the Earth and Mars.
Step 5: Once you have completed your chart, you will save your charts, print them, and then turn them in.
NOTICE: These tools will help you convert really big numbers into words: Numbers to Words Converter and The Other Numbers to Words Converter
